1 egg
1 cup sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts (preferably black walnuts)
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup Rice Krispies
cinnamon mixed with sugar for rolling.

Cook the egg, sugar, walnuts, dates and butter at low heat. Stir constantly or it will really burn. I suppose you could use a double boiler for this, but I never have. Simmer for 5 minutes or so. Remove from heat. Add cereal and vanilla. Mix well. Turn out onto waxed paper. Allow to cool. This is important because the mixture will be like hot napalm otherwise and will burn the skin right off your hands, plus it won't roll into nice balls if it is too hot. Roll chunks into balls, a little less than an inch big. Roll the balls in cinnamon sugar mixture. Allow to cool and harden a little.
