2 egg whites 3/4 cup granulated sugar Pinch of salt Pinch of Cream of Tartar 3/4 cup chopped nuts 1 tsp vanilla 1 package (6 oz) chocolate or butterscotch bits IMPORTANT Preheat oven to 350 in advance of making batter. Beat egg whites till they peak, add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time. This will make a meringue, add salt and cream of tarter, while beating egg whites. Add vanilla, fold in bits and nuts, by hand. Line a cookie sheet with foil. Drop meringue by teaspoons on the foil. Place in oven. Close oven door and IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF THE HEAT. Leave cookies in oven overnight.
