On strawberry shortcake... I use half frozen berries and half fresh, as the frozen have a more intense flavor, at times. Also, to make a super quick but economical "pound cake" I use a Jiffy Mix Yellow Cake Mix! These are super cheap. To enhance the cake I add vanilla, and almond flavoring, and an extra egg yolk. It bakes up lighter fluffier, and is just about as tasty as one I would make from scratch. I do so much baking from scratch, that people think this is as well. :-) |
